We can see if I am an ideal therapist for you. If not, I can help you find the person or resource you need.
Teachers and Educators
Working in schools is draining. Every day feels like a treadmill that’s going too fast. You give so much for the students in front of you, so much that you barely have anything in the tank for you and your family. I am here to help. I’ve worked in high schools for my entire professional career, as a teacher, a counselor, a teacher’s aide, and a college advisor. I understand how the passion to help others can quickly fade when you come home everyday feeling beat up, feeling guilty for taking time for yourself, and being asked to be a “super hero” when you are barely getting by. I provide counseling for my fellow educators to help them live fulfilling lives, making time for health and joy and recognizing their accomplishments. Counseling for educators, by an educator.
Life Transitions
When big changes happen in life, people can experience some uncomfortable emotions. People often ask themselves questions like: Am I good enough for this job? Are the people around me good for me? Why do I keep getting into arguments with my family? Am I doing something wrong? Is there something wrong with me? Why do I feel alone? I have counseling services for young to middle aged adults and anyone who may be feeling lost, anxious, or overwhelmed with big changes in their lives. Whether it’s a big life transition or something you have been dealing with for a long time, we can work together to make your life a little bit more joyful, a little bit more manageable, a little bit more mindful.
Cross Culture Kids (and Adults)
Did you grow up in a culture different from your parents? Did you grow up trying to assimilate to culture around you, while feeling like you were "letting down" the culture of your parents? If you are a cross culture kid like me, you might have at some point felt like you were not American enough nor Chinese enough to claim either. Second-generation immigrants, children of military families often have this experience of creating a cross-cultural identity. For some cross cultural kids the sense of belonging is challenged by the straddling of two or more cultures, and cultural identity development has created confusion, stress, and a sense of isolation, while grappling with the question of "what am I"? If this is you, I'm here to tell you you are not alone. Together we can explore what YOUR culture means to you.
