I’m a therapist who helps people grow into the version of themselves they’ve been working toward—quietly, steadily, and often under a lot of pressure.
While I work with people of all genders 🏳️🌈, my work centers on supporting men and first-generation adults who’ve spent years carrying expectations: to show strength, to keep peace in the family, to perform, to achieve, to hold it all together without asking for much in return. Many of my clients come in feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from their emotions, or unsure how to communicate their needs without guilt or conflict.
Gloria Anzaldua popularized the Nahuatl term nepantla to describe the liminal space between cultures — the experience of being from neither here nor there. I'm a son of Chinese immigrants from Mexico, born and raised in rural Mississippi. Growing up, I found myself grappling with questions of identity, belonging, and permission to claim a place, cultures, and language that did not seem mine. As a nepantlera, living meant constantly cultivating my own concepts of Chinese-American, Mississippian, and 'being a man'.
My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by nepantla, family responsibilities, and the desire to build a life that feels aligned with my authentic values. These experiences help me understand the complex emotional and practical challenges many first-generation adults and men face — whether that’s striving for success, handling family expectations, understanding our emotions, or managing stress, anxiety, and self-doubt.
I approach therapy with cultural humility—recognizing that your lived experience is the expert in the room. Rather than making assumptions, I remain curious, reflective, and open to learning how culture, gender, family, and history shape your story. Therapy is a collaborative space where you are invited to share who you are, where you come from, and who you are becoming. Together, we make meaning of your experiences and create room for growth that feels rooted in your complex reality.
I support first-generation adults, men, and anyone who wants to:
Build confidence, self-compassion, and healthier boundaries
Reduce anxiety, overwhelm, and burnout
Navigate identity concerns and cultural conflicts
Understand their core values
Improve relationships and communication
Heal from past experiences and narratives that no longer serve them
Create routines and habits that support mental health
Move away from surviving and toward thriving

Each of our stories are infinitely complex, and mine is no different. Here are some snippets and fun facts about me so you can get a sense of who I am:
After graduating with my B.A. in Cognitive Science from Occidental College in Los Angeles, I moved to Texas to work in education. As a high school math teacher, I was passionate about helping my students actualize the life they wanted and to inspire them to make a positive impact on the world around them. I decided to begin counseling as a response to the mental health needs I recognized in the students I taught, the people I worked with, and the communities I have always been a part of. I received my M. Ed. in School Counseling from UT San Antonio, taking extra classes to become a licensed professional counselor and National Certified Counselor.
I currently live In South Bend, Indiana — accompanying my wife on her journey to become an academic researcher and university professor. I spend most of my free time cooking delicious food, walking my dogs, and playing basketball.
My favorite way to de-stress: playing video games while simultaneously listening to an audio book or podcast
My most annoying quality: an obsession with Boston Celtics basketball
My biggest fear: being forced to sing in front of others
